Company History
Since its founding in 1954, the law firm of Gess Mattingly & Atchison, P.S.C. has been providing legal services which contribute to the success of our clients and the betterment of the community. The firm actually traces its roots back to the 1930’s when Lexington native and University of Kentucky track star, William B. Gess (1906-1985) began practicing law. He was later joined by World War II veterans, Jack F. Mattingly (1921-2006) and John G. Atchison, Jr. (1924-2002), and the firm was founded in 1954. Since that time, the firm has grown into one of Lexington’s leading law firms, and continues to maintain the rigorous standards of its founders and to uphold a tradition of excellence.
